“I had been thinking for a long time before writing to you, but I took a decision finally. I am asking you to help us if it is possible. My granddaughter Tamiris was born with a good health. When she was 2,5 months she was vaccinated with DTP vaccine (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine), after several days she ran a high temperature, a girl was rushed to children infectious diseases hospital with “diarrhea” diagnosis, where her severe state was detected immediately and she was transferred to resuscitation department. It was detected that the girl had cerebral hemorrhage and meningocephalitis. Our baby was connected to medical ventilation resuscitation apparatus for 15 days. Only after this procedure she was transferred to children clinical hospital No.1 (neurosurgical department), where a surgery on hematomas ablation was done. Tamiris has the following diagnosis now: acute cerebrovascular accident, atrophic process of brain, convulsive disorder, atrophic internal hydrocephaly, craniostenosis. She has severe disorder of psychomotor and motorial development. There is no rehabilitation of brain. She cannot seat, cannot laugh, cannot “coo”, cannot turn over. She is not able to hold objects. She holds her head poorly…
Neurosurgeons encouraged us, they told us that all the cells of the brain would restore. And we have lost a lot of time. We visited a neurologist this February, and we were told that it was too late — a child would stay disabled…
But my son tried to find the way out. He contacted foreign hospitals via Internet, sent them roentgenograms and extracts from medical records. Finally we started to hope for improvement. We were called from Irkutsk, from Israel, from China. Treatment in Russia and Israel is very expensive, that is why we decided to bring my granddaughter to China. There is still a hope for recovery, but we have to take treatment before the girl is 1 year and 6 months old. This is the age before which rehabilitation treatment shall be started to stop the atrophy in any way, to restore blood circulation and nerve cells of the brain, support-motor functions. Our doctors are unable to help…<
The total amount required for the treatment makes up 25,000 USD. With a help from people we have managed to collect 14,000 USD. We re in despair because this sum is not enough and we are losing time!<

Children are born for joy and happiness — we all believe and dream that it will happen this way, not any other. Tamiris' parents also believed in a better life for their child. But for some reason a tiny girl in her short life so far has had to face suffering and pain… We wish this sad chapter of her life was finished and new chapters were filled with joyful events and happy moments! All together we can help the relatives of Tamiris to change her life to a life of an ordinary child, with the first steps, with the first words, with the first conscious smiles to her mother and father...
As Tamiris’ grandmother wrote, a girl with her mother has left to China already for examination, and the money lacking for treatment and surgery are needed as soon as possible. Tamiris’ parents have been thinking for more than a year that the world where their child has suffered so much is unfair and cruel. We still have time to prove that the world is filled with kindness and light since this kindness and light live in every one of us.
Today our sincere feelings and kind deeds are needed for a small girl who came to this world for joy and happiness.

For the treatment of little Tamiris we raised another $ 500 in aid, and immediately transferred it to the child’s family.
Tamiris is steadily moving towards recovery, but the treatment will still be very long.

All this time, we have been using the tiniest chance, any opportunity to help Tamiris. We have recently held a charity event in Tunis wholly dedicating it to Tamiris. Everyone who was not indifferent could buy our unusual thanksgiving stone — this time it was desert rose sand crystals — thus donating money for the baby. This event helped us raise and send to Almaty $1500! Then, in Kiev, while holding League #5, we also organized a fundraising event for Tamiris. This time our desert roses made another $450. We also sent the money for the girl’s treatment.
We keep in touch with Tamiris’ grandmother, Bayan Zhumashevna, who tells us about her granddaughter’s state of health. Here are the lines from her letters:
“Many, many thanks to you! I understand the time is not the best for our foundation but I am grateful for your attention and help, for not forgetting about us! The treatment has begun. Now Tamiris can sit and turn her head; she listens attentively when her mother is talking to her. But she still cannot talk. Now she eats various porridges, mashes (she could not chew before, her right side of the jaw did not function). The doctors say she will recover but we need time. We hope for a miracle.”
“The doctors have decided that the operation is not necessary but Tamiris’ treatment will last for up to 5 years… We’ll have to get to Urumchi each year. The next procedures will be the rehabilitating though. And the most important is the first treatment session which will last till September 1. She is now being taken water out of her head without an operation, it will take a long time, presumably 50 days. Tamaris’ procedures last from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and comprise acupuncture, ointments, massage, gymnastics…”
“I have no words to express all the gratitude I feel deep in my heart! Thank you for your enormous work!!! I have received and sent the $1500 you had collected. I’m sending you the most recent photos of my granddaughter. Major shifts are evident.

Dear partners, Tamiris still needs our help. Her treatment goes on and costs considerable money, so we and her family will be happy to get any help, even the tiniest donation! We continue fund-raising for little Tamiris, as she needs our help so much!
Today, Tamiris with her Mom are staying in Shanghai for examination before operation. Those lacking $9000 are not gathered yet, though they are indispensable for operation. Now, it's only us who are responsible for the future of Tamiris.
