From letter:
Victoria Sabadash (Vlada’s mother):
“Dear partners! I am appealing to you with a request to help my little daughter Vlada. At the conference in Moscow I heard that our charitable foundation and partners could support people in difficult circumstances. My family and my little daughter are in dire need of such assistance…
Vlada has been often ill since birth. Doctors have diagnosed her with perforated interatrial septum aneurism. They recommended undergoing checks twice a year, which we did. But now that Vlada has turned 7, the disease is manifesting itself with increasing intensity. The slightest strain causes shortness of breath and her lips turn blue. Cardio surgeons tell us a surgery is needed urgently.
People who experienced similar problems are aware that there are no free surgeries. Additionally, we need money to buy an artificial lung ventilation machine (an oxygenator), since the government is so far unable to finance it either… Post-operative treatment and accommodation in Kiev also cost a great deal. According to preliminary estimates, we are talking $3,000.
Unfortunately, the salaries of me and my husband are not enough to pay for the surgery. We have an older daughter who suffers from insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The children constantly need pharmaceutical treatment, so we spend all our earnings on medicines and doctors. I have appealed to the district administration, the Red Cross, and my trade union. They have given me just enough money for the return trip to Kiev.
Our family will be deeply grateful to everybody who responds to our appeal for help. May none of you experience similar problems, and may all of you remain healthy… Tank you in advance. We are counting on your assistance!”
How You Can help
Each letter sent to our foundation and each story described in it cannot but evoke feelings of compassion, pity, and commiseration. Yet perhaps nothing can cause a greater outpouring of emotion than a situation in which the parents of an ailing child are forced to appeal to others for assistance. In such situations it appears that something is terribly wrong, cruel, unreasonable and even cruel about our world.
The Sabadash family has two children with severe illnesses that require constant and costly treatment. One shudders to imagine how difficult it is for the girls’ parents to live in constant fear for their children’s life, worrying they may run short of money for medicine or treatment. At the same time, they have to struggle not to despair, lose hope, and accuse the rest of the world of cruel injustice…
Victoria Sabadash appealed to us for assistance, sincerely hoping she would not be turned down, that there is more good in this world than evil. We also believe this is the case. We believe in you, dear partners! We are asking you to help 7-year-old Vlada and collect the funds needed for the urgent heart surgery and post-operative treatment. Today we have a chance to give the girl a gift of health, to unite the hundreds of our good hearts to help one little heart!
